Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
Financial year ending 2026Financial Year Ending: 2026
Applicable Entities: TOTEM Worldwide Ltd (UK)
1. Introduction & Executive Commitment
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is published pursuant to Section 54 of the United Kingdom Modern Slavery Act 2015 and aligns with international standards, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the French Corporate Duty of Vigilance framework (Loi relative au devoir de vigilance).
At TOTEM ("the Agency," "we," "us," or "our"), we operate with a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labor, debt bondage, and child labor. We are committed to acting ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems to ensure modern slavery does not exist within our business operations or supply chains.
2. Our Organizational Structure & Business Model
TOTEM is an international brand strategy, public relations, event production, creative communications, and VIP/talent management agency servicing clients across luxury fashion, entertainment, sport-performance, and lifestyle sectors.
Our operations are managed through primary creative and showroom hubs in London and Paris, executing campaigns, showroom appointments, runway presentations, press trips, and red-carpet productions internationally.
While our direct workforce consists predominantly of highly skilled professional staff and specialized creative contractors, our operations interact with a broad ecosystem of third-party suppliers who support our physical events, activations, and promotional campaigns.
3. Supply Chain Risk Profile in PR & Event Production
We recognize that the creative, live-events, and fashion industries present distinct operational risks concerning labor exploitation. We have identified the following supply chain tiers as carrying the highest inherent modern slavery risks:
A. Live Event Production, Logistics & Venue Crew
- Rigging, staging, audio-visual, and lighting setup crews;
- Temporary event security, perimeter guards, and crowd-control personnel;
- Cleaning, waste management, and venue turnover staff;
- Event catering, bar, and temporary hospitality service staff;
- Specialized transport, freight forwarders, and same-day delivery couriers handling high-value samples and showroom assets.
B. Promotional Manufacturing & PR Seeding
- Manufacturers and printers of promotional gifting, bespoke packaging, branded press mailers, and event signage;
- Garment, footwear, and accessory manufacturing lines for unreleased or branded apparel.
C. Talent, Casting & Model Welfare
- Direct and indirect casting of models, background performers, brand ambassadors, and creative contributors, with a specific focus on young persons and minors.
4. Governance & Anti-Slavery Policies
Our stance against modern slavery is reinforced by operational policies embedded in our employee onboarding and vendor management processes:
- Code of Business Conduct & Ethics: Mandates fair dealing, lawful employment, anti-corruption, and respectful workplace interactions across all agency activities.
- Supplier Code of Conduct: Requires all third-party vendors, suppliers, and production partners to certify compliance with minimum labor standards, legal minimum wages, safe working hours, and voluntary employment.
- Whistleblower & "Speak Up" Policy: Provides a confidential, protected escalation channel (speakup@totemworldwide.co) for staff, contractors, and external vendors to report suspected labor abuses, exploitation, or human rights violations without fear of retaliation.
- Safeguarding & Minor Protection Rules: Enforces verification of age, working hour limits, mandatory parental/agent consent, and certified chaperones for any models or performers under the age of 18 involved in our productions.
5. Due Diligence & Supply Chain Oversight
To identify, mitigate, and prevent modern slavery in our operations, TOTEM enforces a risk-based supplier due diligence framework:
A. Supplier Onboarding & Vetting
- Pre-Contract Screening: Critical suppliers (particularly in event production, temporary staffing, catering, and merchandise fabrication) must complete a compliance questionnaire confirming their employment practices, right-to-work screening protocols, and living wage adherence.
- Ban on Uncontrolled Subcontracting: Our supplier agreements strictly prohibit unauthorized subcontracting. Approved suppliers must maintain direct oversight of their personnel and ensure that any secondary vendor adheres to the same anti-slavery standards.
B. Contractual Protections
Our commercial agreements with vendors and event partners incorporate explicit contractual representations:
- Warranting compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, applicable French labor laws, and local statutory employment standards;
- Providing TOTEM with audit and inspection rights regarding working conditions on client production sites;
- Authorizing immediate contract termination without penalty in the event of confirmed human rights or labor exploitation violations.
C. On-Site Monitoring at Events & Runway Shows
During high-intensity activations (such as Fashion Weeks, festival activations, events, award shows, and film shoots), our production leads oversee load-in and load-out environments to monitor safety standards, working hour limits, mandatory rest breaks, and the welfare of temporary venue crews.
6. Training & Organizational Capacity
To ensure organizational awareness and proactive risk management:
- Key Team Training: Account Directors, Event Producers, Showroom Managers, and Production Coordinators receive guidance on identifying the indicators of modern slavery, forced labor, and worker exploitation in event logistics and manufacturing.
- Escalation Protocols: Staff are instructed on immediate escalation procedures if an on-site vendor displays red flags (such as workers lacking identification, indications of withheld wages, unsafe working conditions, or excessive uninterrupted shifts).
7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Effectiveness
We assess the effectiveness of our modern slavery risk management through:
- 100% Policy Attestation: Ensuring all permanent employees, fixed-term staff, and dedicated contractors electronically review and sign the Agency Code of Conduct via our digital onboarding portal.
- Supplier Due Diligence Coverage: Screening and obtaining signed compliance declarations from 100% of tier-one physical production, catering, and security vendors prior to event execution.
- Incident Reporting: Monitoring the number of modern slavery or labor rights grievances raised through internal channels or our confidential compliance desk (speakup@totemworldwide.co). In the preceding financial year, zero incidents of modern slavery were reported or identified across our operations.
8. Executive Approval & Sign-Off
This Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the Executive Leadership of TOTEM Worldwide Ltd. It constitutes our modern slavery statement for the current financial year and will be reviewed and updated annually.
